Held over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, the Bournemouth 7s Festival is one of the biggest events on the town’s calendar — a unique combination of competitive sport and a full-scale music festival.
Sport by day
At its heart are the rugby and netball sevens tournaments, which draw hundreds of teams and thousands of players to the pitches at Chapel Gate on the edge of town. The standard ranges from serious clubs to fancy-dress sides in it for the fun.
Music by night
Once the whistles stop, the festival switches to live music, DJs and headline acts across stages, with camping on site turning the weekend into a proper festival rather than a day out.
Planning your visit
The festival takes place just outside the town, so plan your travel and check ticket and camping options well ahead. It marks the unofficial start of Bournemouth’s packed summer season, which builds towards the Air Festival in August.
