Each December, The Square in the centre of Bournemouth becomes an Alpine-style Christmas market, open daily from 1 to 31 December 2026. Chalet-style stalls, the scent of hog roast and the glow of festive lights make it a cosy fixture of the town’s seasonal calendar.
What to expect
Handmade gifts fill the wooden stalls, while there is plenty to eat and drink — hog roast, mulled wine and hot chocolate to keep the winter chill at bay. Open every day through the month, it’s an easy place to browse for presents or simply soak up the Christmas atmosphere with a warm drink in hand.

The Square sits at the top of the Lower Gardens, moments from the seafront and the town’s main shops, so it slots neatly into a wider day out. It’s busiest on December weekends and evenings — come midweek for a calmer wander, and wrap up warm, as much of the market is outdoors.
