Bournemouth's landmark Victorian pier, first opened in 1880 amusements, a theatre, cafés and a zip line to the beach.

Bournemouth Pier has been the town’s centrepiece since 1880, reaching out into Poole Bay from the foot of the Lower Gardens. It’s free to walk to the end, where you get the finest view back across the beach and along the coast towards the Isle of Purbeck.

Things to do on the pier

Beyond the classic promenade, the pier is home to RockReef, an indoor climbing and adventure attraction, and PierZip, billed as the world’s first pier-to-shore zip line you launch from a tower at the pier head and glide back to the sand.
